Scissor Sisters To Tour with Lady Gaga!

September 22, 2010

Scissor Sisters will be joining Lady Gaga on the early 2011 run of her Monster Ball World Tour, beginning with the February 19th show at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ and including two consecutive nights at New York City’s Madison Square Garden Arena (February 21st & 22nd) and shows in numerous other cities. See below for itinerary.

“We Scissor Sisters are thrilled to be a part of Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball Tour in 2011. It’s a perfect opportunity to join forces with such a kindred spirit,” said the band.

Scissor Sisters recently completed a North American headlining jaunt, which elicited stellar reviews. Critics came out in force for the band’s two sold-out shows at New York City’s Terminal 5.

“The smiles, showmanship, disco-era revivalism and finely calibrated ironies are the essence of Scissor Sisters, a New York City band that keeps people dancing to its in-jokes,” noted The New York Times’ Jon Pareles while The Huffington Post marveled: “For the next 100 minutes, we were treated to a nonstop sensual assault.” The New York Post praised the band’s “powerhouse set,” observing: “The colorful, burlesque-inspired show combined fashion, frantic dance moves and falsetto vocal harmonies that would have made the Bee Gees jealous. The Scissor Sisters also projected a B-52’s-like knack for call-and-response party anthems.”

Night Work, the band’slatest album, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Independent Albums Chart and inside the Top 20 of The Billboard 200, becoming Scissor Sisters’ highest charting album to date. The New York Times hailed it as “dirty fun” and Entertainment Weekly awarded it an A-. “Three albums in, the Sisters are as gleefully hedonistic as ever,” said Rolling Stone while Q gave Night Work four stars in a two-page lead review, noting: “they translate anxiety into dancefloor electricity.”

The album follows Ta-Dah, which bowed at No. 1 on the UK album chart in 2006, and the band’s self-titled 2004 debut, which earned Scissor Sisters three BRIT awards. Scissor Sisters – comprising Jake Shears (vocals), Ana Matronic (vocals), Babydaddy (guitar/bass/keyboards) and Del Marquis (guitar) – have sold over seven million albums worldwide.

Meligrove Band Announce Tour with Tokyo Police Club

July 29, 2010

Last Gang Records is pleased to announce Toronto’s Meligrove Band will be hitting the states for a national tour including dates supporting Tokyo Police Club, Arkells and Born Ruffians throughout the summer. Kicking off on September 25th in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Meligrove Band will be on the road non-stop supporting the release of their critically acclaimed full-length Shimmering Lights, out September 21.

As previously announced, the band unleashed the record’s first single, "Halflight," as a free digital download. You can grab it here.

Meligrove Band is: Jason Nunes (vocals, guitar, organ), Darcy RegoMichael Small (bass), and Brian O’Reilly (guitar, synth). Together they make music that is heavy, yet pop; it’s noisy, but it’s full of melody. Catchy hooks sit alongside violins, organs and brass, wired through any number of guitar pedals – all atop a pounding, fuzz-bass rhythm section. (vocals, drums, guitar),

They’ve taken their explosive live show across North America, the UK, and even the Azores, touring with the likes of Dinosaur Jr, Tokyo Police Club, the Constantines among others, playing anywhere from large outdoor festivals and concert halls to Brooklyn art galleries, Philadelphia church basements, and the Curling Club in Kenora, Ontario. The Drums Announce Co-Headlining North American Tour With Surfer Blood

"…one of THE most promising new bands of 2010." – Yahoo! Music

“…all heart and hooks.”The New York Times

The band is currently in the midst of a massive worldwide tour and the North American dates are sure to be the most explosive yet!

The album and electrifying UK shows have already gained the band an NME cover. The album is out now digitally in the US and will be available in stores in September.
