Everyone’s favorite ultra-modern pop trio Miike Snow just cast a spell on celebrity blog hound Perez Hilton today. Click the link or see below for Mr. Hilton’s take…
If you love Röyksopp, Peter Bjorn and John or Gnarls Barkley, then you will LOVE Miike Snow. They make really cool (some might say “hipster”) music that we think can cross over to the mainstream.
What’s especially surprising for the band – given their sound – is that Miike Snow is actually a side project of Bloodshy & Avant, the Swedish producers and songwriters responsible for some of Britney Spears’ biggest hits, like Toxic and Piece of Me. They’ve also worked with Madonna and Kylie Minogue, among others.
Miike Snow sounds like nothing you would expect from Bloodshy & Avant – and we kinda like that!

The debut album from the Swedish / NYC trio received 3 1/2 stars in the brand new issue of Rolling Stone (Michael Jackson cover). Click the link or read below to see the review.
Swedes: they’re still insane! Enter Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg, better known as Bloodshy and Avant, the Stockholm production duo known for doing tracks with Madonna and Britney Spears, notably on the single-of-the-century contender “Toxic.” Here they hook up with indie boy Andrew Wyatt, manhandling his plaintive love ballads until they explode into freewheeling electro fantasias. “Faker” might be a well-turned pop song on acoustic guitar, but this threesome bring out the unruly emotion in it with synth swirls and junkyard disco breaks. The New Wave yearning of “Plastic Jungle” is something toxic indeed.

KID SISTER ANNOUNCES ARRIVAL OF LONG-ANTICIPATED DEBUT ALBUM
THE NEWLY TITLED ULTRAVIOLET OUT OCTOBER 6TH ON DOWNTOWN RECORDS
The much lauded superstar in the making, Kid Sister, is releasing her long-anticipated debut album, Ultraviolet, on October 6th on Downtown Records. When Kid Sister (aka Melisa Young) turned in her album, originally titled Dream Date, in September of 2008, she pulled a daring move and asked Downtown to hold off on releasing it.
“There were a few things about the album that irked me…the album wasn’t cohesive”, Young told Pitchfork in an interview earlier this year. Downtown allowed her some time to make the album what she wanted, and she went back to work with executive producer A-Trak and the rest of the creative team behind Fool’s Gold. The result is the stunning Ultraviolet. The album is a landmark, merging electronic music and club rap in ways that have never been done before. The album includes production by some of the most sought after, cutting edge producers working today (including A-Trak, Rusko, Steve Angello & Sebastian Ingrosso, Sinden, XXXChange, Brian Kennedy, Herve, Yuksek and DJ Gant-Man) who all seem to have recognized the talent and star power that also motivated Kanye West to collaborate with her on 2007’s Pro Nails single, helping in part to create the deafening buzz that surrounds her now. The album is 12 songs deep, with each track being mixed seamlessly into the next, creating a continuous mix of songs that contain an innovative approach to their perfectly honed pop sensibilities. The final release of Kid Sister’s signature effervescent rapping style with these innovative producers will cement her debut release as one of the most talked about this year.
